Dean is a 1997 graduate of Western Washington University (BA in business management) who joined Golf Savings Bank in 2003. For four years he was a Senior Benefits Analyst with Merrill Lynch & Company in Seattle, where he served as a project manager of new products and managed and administered retirement plans for corporate clients.

Prior to joining Golf Savings Bank, Dean, who is proficient in Chinese (Mandarin), was a missionary for Campus Crusade for Christ International. He served as part of a multinational team working on an urban college campus in China.

Dean grew up in Seattle and has been an apartment owner since 2002.
